Terms & Conditions

These are the practical terms for booking a massage with North Peak Massage. Because sessions take place in your home, some of these cover what I need in order to work safely — please read them before your first appointment.

About me Needs input

North Peak Massage provides mobile relaxation and sports massage across the High Peak area, travelling to you.

To finish this section: Confirm legal trading name and status (sole trader?), the business address for legal notices, and how you want your qualification described at launch. Your site currently says the Level 3 Sports Massage qualification is due to finish September 2026 — the wording must stay accurate on day one and be updated on completion.

Insurance and qualifications Needs input

I am a student member of the Sports Massage Association (SMA) and hold public liability and professional indemnity insurance through Balens Insurance Brokers. Evidence of both is available on request.

To finish this section: Add your SMA membership number once you have it. Confirm the policy also covers professional indemnity (not just public liability) — Balens' standard therapist policy usually bundles both, but check your schedule. Also check whether High Peak Borough Council requires any registration for mobile massage in your area. Revisit the 'student member' wording once the Level 3 qualification completes (Sept 2026) and membership upgrades to full/accredited status.

Booking and confirmation

You can request an appointment through the booking form on this site, or by email. A request is not confirmed straight away: I review it and confirm by email, usually within 24 hours, once I've checked the time works and there's nothing in your health information that needs discussing first.

Your appointment is only confirmed when you receive that confirmation email.

The pre-visit health form

Before your first session I'll send you a private link to a short health form covering medical conditions, medications, injuries and anything that might affect treatment. Please complete it before I arrive — I can't safely treat you without it, though we can fill it in together at the start of the appointment if you'd rather.

That link is personal to your booking and stops working seven days after the appointment.

Please tell me if anything changes between sessions — a new injury, a new medication, a pregnancy, or a recent operation all affect what's appropriate.

Cancellations and missed appointments Needs input

Plans change, and I'd always rather you told me than didn't. If you need to cancel or move an appointment, please give as much notice as you can.

To finish this section: Decide and state: (1) the notice period — 24 hours is the sector baseline, 48 hours is also common; (2) the charge for cancelling inside that window — commonly 50–100% of the session, or a fixed fee; (3) whether the charge is waived if the slot is refilled — a common and well-received softener; (4) the charge for a no-show, which is often the full fee; (5) how you handle it if you have to cancel.

If you're running late Needs input

If you're delayed, please let me know as soon as you can. Because appointments are scheduled back to back with travel between them, a late start usually means a shorter session rather than a later finish.

To finish this section: Confirm whether a late start means the session ends at the original time and is charged in full, and whether there's a cut-off after which it counts as a missed appointment (30 minutes is common).

Payment Needs input

Payment is accepted by cash or bank transfer.

To finish this section: Confirm this is the full set of methods, and state when payment is due — on the day, in advance, or within X days for bank transfer. Also confirm whether new clients pay a deposit, and whether you'll offer gift vouchers (if so they need their own terms: expiry, transferability, refunds).

Prices

Current prices are shown on the Services page and are confirmed in your booking confirmation email. The price quoted at the time of booking is the price you pay, even if prices change afterwards.

Where a promotion applies, the discounted price is shown before you confirm.

Travel and service area Needs input

I travel to you across the High Peak area — the towns I cover are listed on the Service Area page.

To finish this section: Confirm whether travel is included everywhere in the listed area or whether there's a fee beyond a certain distance, and how much. Also decide what happens if you can't reach a client due to weather or road closure — is the session rescheduled at no charge?

What I need at your home Needs input

I bring the couch, towels and everything else needed for the treatment. To work safely I need a clear, reasonably level floor area with space to move around the couch, and somewhere to wash my hands.

A warm, quiet room makes a real difference to the treatment.

To finish this section: Confirm your actual requirements: the floor space you need, whether parking must be available nearby (and who pays for it), whether pets need to be in another room, and whether you need to be told in advance about stairs or access issues.

Illness Needs input

Please don't book, and please tell me as soon as possible, if you're unwell — particularly with a fever, sickness or diarrhoea, or a contagious skin condition. Massage can make some illnesses worse, and I work with other clients the same day.

I'll do the same: if I'm unwell I'll cancel and rearrange at no cost to you.

To finish this section: Confirm the specific conditions that mean rescheduling, and whether the cancellation charge is waived for genuine illness — most therapists waive it, which encourages people to be honest rather than turning up unwell.

Health, contraindications and medical advice Needs input

Massage isn't appropriate for everyone, or in every circumstance. If something you disclose means treatment would be unsafe, I may need to adapt the session, postpone it, or ask you to check with your GP first. If that happens after booking, there's no charge.

Massage is not a substitute for medical care. It isn't a diagnosis, and it doesn't replace seeing a GP, physiotherapist or consultant. If you have an undiagnosed problem, please get it looked at.

I may decline to treat an area, or end a session early, if continuing wouldn't be safe.

To finish this section: Confirm whether there are conditions you'll only treat with written GP clearance, and add them here. Your intake form already captures a 'GP permission given' flag, so the wording should match how you actually use it.

Clients under 18 Needs input

To finish this section: Decide whether you treat under-18s at all. If you do, state the minimum age, that a parent or guardian must give consent and be present throughout, and how their records are retained (the CNHC standard is until the client's 25th birthday). If you don't, say so plainly — it's a shorter and safer section.

What to expect during a session

Massage is a clinical treatment. You'll be asked to undress only as far as you're comfortable and as far as the treatment requires, and you'll be covered with towels throughout — only the area being worked on is uncovered at any time. Underwear stays on.

You can ask me to adjust the pressure, avoid an area, or stop entirely at any point, and I'll do so without question. You're welcome to have another adult present if that makes you more comfortable.

I'll explain what I'm doing and why as we go, and check in on pressure during the session.

Professional conduct

This is a professional, therapeutic service. Any request for services of a sexual nature, or any behaviour that is inappropriate, threatening or makes me feel unsafe, will end the appointment immediately. The full fee will be payable, no further bookings will be accepted, and where appropriate the matter will be reported to the police.

I also reserve the right to decline or end a session if the environment is unsafe or unsuitable to work in.

The same standard applies to me. If anything about my conduct falls short of what you'd expect, please tell me — see the complaints section below.

Aftercare

Some soreness in the day or two after a deeper treatment is normal. Aftercare guidance is on the Aftercare page. If you experience anything unexpected or that concerns you following a session, please get in touch.

Complaints Needs input

If you're unhappy with any part of the service, please tell me first — email hello@northpeakmassage.com and I'll respond as quickly as I can.

To finish this section: Add the SMA's complaints procedure details (clients are entitled to know how to escalate to your professional body if unsatisfied with your response). Add Balens' details too if your policy requires it.

Changes to these terms

These terms may be updated from time to time. The version in force is the one published here at the time of your booking, and the 'last updated' date above shows when it last changed.

What clients say
